Let us get started on this awesome Rustic Christmas Decoration project!
Measure 1. Create Your Template
You can essentially use any layout You Want. Be creative and don’t worry about being ideal. Use the plan under or find something that you enjoy and follow the steps for your very own Rustic Christmas Decoration creation!
Just Be Certain to use a straight edge to mark 2 halves. Subsequently, just draw your design on one half of the board. The half will be used to your foundation board.
Measure 2. Cut The Base Board to Size
In this tutorial, I first started with a piece of 2×4 plywood (about 3/4″ thick). I then drew another line in the center of one half of the board and just drew a line. I ended up with two halves of around 12 inches with approximately 24 inches.
I used a Dremel Ultra Saw to create my cuts. In case you’ve got any handy, you may also use any saw.
Measure 3. Cut Out Your Style
With my Dremel 4000 rotary tool, I recently attached a wood cutting piece and also followed the general outline I drew about the plywood.
Please be aware, it is not necessary (or quite easy) to follow the traces just. Keep in Mind, This is pristine lines and a Rustic Christmas Decoration or even desired, are expected.
For this design you need to have 8 full pieces not including the foundation board (body, beard, mustache, brim, hat, two stars( and nose).
Measure 4. Sand All Pieces
Because it is very Tough to create lines that are perfect, you will need to do some sanding. I used 120 grit sandpaper since it’s rough enough to take care of rough borders, yet easy enough to make soft edges.
Measure 5. Paint All Pieces
For this particular particular Indoor Christmas Decoration I used blue, red, yellow, white, and black paint. The colors you use is up to you. I suggest locating a craft paint kit, or just like me, go to Lowe’s and peruse the sample paint section (that I paid about $3 per sample).

Dry, move on to step 6!
Measure 6. Sand & Stain
Use only or a sander your two hands to sand your painted sections all. The Objective is to let a few of their wood to show through the paint.
After some light sanding, put in a few wood stain the painted sections to all. I know this sounds odd, but trust me, this is the crucial step in creating a Rustic Christmas Decoration. Essentially, stain adds the semblance of age into the item and really makes it stand out.
I had a dark walnut stain. An overall rule is, the darker the stain, the more “elderly” your piece will look.

Measure 7. Paste to Base Board
Use a generous Quantity of wood glue to attach All Your pieces. Until it dries, remember to wash any excess glue away.
It May help to add some weight (publications, rocks, clamps, etc.) into the top of the bit to Permit for maximum adhesion.
Measure 8. Enjoy!
