#700,000 Regeneration Fund to Assist Renovate Caernarfon Town Centre

A loan fund established by Gwynedd Council is allowing property owners at the Caernarfon town center area to renovate their properties.

The #700,000 loan fund was established following a successful Council bid for Welsh Government financing. It has recently assisted Byncws Tŷ Glyndŵr to start a city bunkhouse, café and bar. It has also helped Tŷ Castell Cyf to start a restaurant and boutique resort. Both businesses are situated on the High Street at Caernarfon.

Financial support was provided throughout the Caernarfon Town Centre Loan Fund to renovate both premises and to facilitate the launching of the new enterprises.

Rhys Davies, owner of Byncws Tŷ Glyndŵr said:

“We are very happy to have received aid from Gwynedd Council’s Caernarfon Town Centre Regeneration Fund to renovate the High Street property. In a time where public financing is much lower, the availability of financing initiatives such as this is of amazing importance to small local businesses”

Gareth Jones, proprietor of Tŷ Castell stated:

“As a local business we are very happy to have received funds to revive our High Street property. It is very essential for both visitors and locals alike that Caernarfon Town Centre remains a lively and attractive place. I recommend property owners inside the town center to make use of the financing that is on offer.”

Councillor Ioan Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development said:

“It is heartening to find out how this financing is being used by local property owners to enhance the status of buildings from Caernarfon city center.

“Over the years that the Council has been working closely with its partners in order to regenerate the region, together with the loans providing an excellent opportunity for businesses and citizens to renovate their buildings at the town center.

“As a Council we recommend people who believe they are eligible to speak to our small business support team in order to discover more regarding the financing.”

Even the Welsh Government has also approved a financing application by Gwynedd Council towards the setting up of an interest free loan scheme for owners of all premises in need of improvement located within Bangor town center.

Even the Caernarfon and Bangor Centre Loan Fund is a interest-free loan offered to property owners at the middle of Caernarfon and Bangor to complete improvements or to use existing vacant assumptions. The fund is currently administrated by Gwynedd Council and funded from the Welsh Government.
